What's her age? Is she on meds? I know I've heard folks on the board talk

about certain meds causing raging in their kids...

My son would have fits of rage when he was coming off of the Celexa

last June. It took him about 6 months to finally stablize. He is

usually a pretty mellow kid, so it was weird to experience. So for

him it was a matter of going off of the meds, rather than going on.

I don't know if this would help your daughter, but my 7 yr old daughter was also

so moody and had tons of meltdowns and rages. Her psychologist suggested it

very well could be drops in blood sugar and to make sure she ate a healthy snack

every 2 hours or so. I thought " no way will this work " because I thought she

normally didn't go much more than that without eating, but I was very

conscientious of the 2 hr time frame -- tried it and It made an amazing

difference in her moods. We always keep things like crackers, string cheese,

bananas, pretzles, etc with us, especially when we are out and then I make sure

she drinks lots of water, too.

Good luck!

Lise,

My son's therapist mentioned that depression often manifests as

rage/anger in children. Do you think she could be depressed?

Maybe its just hormones kicking in?

In adults rage & mood swings are often signals of bipolar disorder (I had them

before my medication). But I don't know about that in kids.

Raging in bipolar kids is a symptom. General crabbiness and snottiness is a

sign of puberty :-)

Yes, My dd(10) has bipolar and ocd, and has mood swings and rages.

Combine it with hormones, and you have a huge handful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We bought my son a big punching/kicking bag and put it in his room.

(It sits on a base filled with sand.) Now when he starts getting

angry, we tell him to go punch his punching bag. It really works for

him.
