Guest guest
Hi Janet Thank you for posting this. We have always avoided Culturelle in the past because we had read many times about the possibility of there being casein in the final product. All I can say is we have tried quite a few probiotic products and have had a casein type reaction to several of them which have claimed to be dairy free - notably Solgar and also Proflora. always shows the same reaction to casein infringement - 2 bright red ears and very stimmy within 1-2 hrs. We know he is still sensitive to casein because yesterday evening we tried him with only 1 tsp of yoghurt - with enzymes - and still had the same reaction we have always had. We have never had a " casein " problem with proBioGold but we decided to try Culturelle because we have been battling gut bugs and the proBioGold didn't seem to be helping. I was somewhat surprised not to see a casein reaction with Culturelle but we are on our 4th box now and have not seen a problem. And it does seem to be helping with the gut bugs. It may be that some batches have traces of casein and others don't and that we have just been lucky. With respect to the original query about the possibility of analphytic reaction to dairy I personally would probably play safe avoid any probiotic cultured on whey and stick with the soil based organisms (like Primal Defense). Caroline Subject: Re: Proflora Probiotic -A friend of mine did quite a bit of research regarding Culturelle, and actually talked to one of the lab people who make Culturelle, and was told that there IS casein in Culturelle.
