Guest guest
Yeah on no seizures. Yes, it can happen that quickly, especially since she has a high- tuned metabolic system. Please post on how she is over the next couple of days. I will send you a document in the Files on side effects. There are some parts that may help explain what you are seeing. Is there any specific reason you are doing the keto diet with her? .
Guest guest
Just a little background on . She has always been a bit developmentally delayed (kind of on the far side of normal, but within the range). She's not autistic, but has some tendencies and I believe she's on the autistic spectrum somewhere, although high functioning. Just before she turned 4, she had a virus and had two status seizures -- the first she'd ever had. She was put on medication which " robbed her of her joy " -- she became a very sad little girl. She also started developing a lot of stomach problems and complaining that " her body hurt " (the docs all blew us off saying she was just trying to get attention). Right after she started at a new preschool, we got a notice that she needed a Hepatitis A shot -- for the first time, I did ask questions and research -- but was assured that " this vaccine " was completely safe. We went ahead and about 3 weeks later she started having these funky staring, hard swallowing episodes. They decided these were seizures and kept upping her meds. That spring she got the chicken pox and all & * & ( & *@#$ broke loose -- she'd either throw up or have a seizure every morning. This went on until another status episode and then they tried three more drugs -- all with horrible side effects, one which literally reduced her to an infant. On the last one she was on, she became very hyper and aggressive. We finally said " enough " and started the keto diet in an effort to get her off meds and hopefully control her seizures. She's now off all meds and doing much better. Her remaining seizures are in the middle of the night or upon waking and her stomach rumbles wildly. All along, I've suspected some sort of digestive and/or blood sugar issue -- but again been blown off (they did do an upper GI which turned up nothing). Along the way, we've also unearthed a number of food sensitivities, especially to cheese. We recently visited our homeopathic physician and he's the one who suggested the enzymes. My feeling on the diet is that it allowed us to get off meds -- but I don't think it's the ultimate answer for her. Obviously, it's incredibly difficult (the GFCF diet would be a breeze by comparison!). 's the classic side effect kid -- so I always know she's going to react. I know this is way more than you likely wanted to know -- but posted the detail in case something jumps out to someone. Always trying to solve our mystery!--D *** Is there any specific reason you are doing the keto diet with her? . ===== DeEtte -- Mom to (, 6, keto-kid since 1/01, med-free, seizures greatly reduced) and (, 4), sdale, AZ " I know God would never give me more than I can handle. . .I just wish he didn't trust me so much. Guest guest
-- You'd asked me to post on how 's doing. I started 1/2 capsule with her breakfast this morning. She's very quiet and has a lot of sensory defense -- washing hair, brushing teeth, etc., are a real struggle. She's always had slight issues with these things that have come and gone -- but they've been very pronounced the last few days. Also, today, her eyes are red, puffy and itchy. If the theory is that her body's detoxing -- I can understand that. But, am I also reading that she could become oversensitive to something in her diet -- could the enzymes actually make her food sensitivities worse? Again, though, the good news is that she hasn't had a seizure or the night-time rumbly stomach since starting them. Could be a coincidence, I suppose -- but it is encouraging.--D --- kjorn@... wrote: > Yeah on no seizures. > > Yes, it can happen that quickly, especially since > she has a high- > tuned metabolic system. I'm thoughtful about 's experience. As a new enzyme user myself, I can't speak from a whole lot of experience, but can tell you that so far the enzymes have " protected " me from all my food allergies/sensitivities (perhaps in the beginning when I wasn't taking a full complement with each meal that may not have been true). However, I am also chemically sensitive, and the enzymes may have increased those sensitivities. Theoretically, that's progress, in that my body is less adapted to the chemicals and is giving me symptoms to guide me away from those chemicals that are harmful to me. Practically, it is a problem, because I haven't yet figured out the underlying process making me reactive to so many chemicals--though I'm guessing it has something to do with detox pathways in the liver--and I'm feeling awfully vulnerable a lot of the time. I hope I'm not muddying the water by introducing the topic of chemical sensitivities. Unfortunately, they ARE an issue for me. n

Now the intended apology: I misspoke when I said that the enzymes have increased my chemical sensitivities. That is not true, in my opinion. Instead, and a far different matter, I think they have increased the visibility of my chemical sensitivities. Probably an unmasking kind of process, as Devin has described at other times. Although unmasking is moving toward the core and healing, it is nonetheless quite unnerving for me to show increasing sensitivities to chemicals, mold, dust, dyes, electromagnetic energy, etc. Devin, would it make sense at all to sip on a drink throughout the day, as has described, in an attempt to get some protection from multiple chemical sensitivities? Thanks all, n
Guest guest
It's certainly worth a shot, especially if the chemical sensitivity produces a chronic muscle or joint pain. Certain peptidases, if absorbed into the systemic circulation, could have effects on negating certain peptides involved in pain production. Back in the early '60s research was conducted on the use of certain proteases as analgesic/antiinflammatory agents. The research stopped with the advent of tylenol and other NSAIDS. Devin I've read that taurine is good for those who are in toxic environs, possibly this is also something that may be helpful > In a message dated 09/20/2001 7:20:56 AM Central Daylight Time, Filmar2 > writes: > > > Devin, would it make sense at all to sip on a drink throughout the day, as > has described, in an attempt to get some protection from multiple > chemical sensitivities? > > Thanks all, > n > > > >
Guest guest
Thank you, n. is also chemical sensitive -- as is my mother -- so it must run in the family. I hadn't thought of this with regard to the enzymes. Interesting. Have you tried any homeopathic remedies or muscle response testing to see what specifically you might be sensitive to?--D --- Filmar2@... wrote: > In a message dated 09/19/2001 11:09:48 PM Central > Daylight Time, > annarebecca85259@... writes: > > > > If the theory is that > > her body's detoxing -- I can understand that. > But, am > > I also reading that she could become oversensitive > to > > something in her diet -- could the enzymes > actually > > make her food sensitivities worse? > > > > DeEtte, > First let me say that my computer appears to have > been rejecting some of my > email lately; if anyone has requested a reply from > me and not received one, > that is likely the problem. > > I'm thoughtful about 's experience. In some ways my experience with them was like it is with the enzymes: the more successful they were in clearing food allergies, the more detox commenced, the more frightening my situation became. Simply because the closer I get to my core and full healing (or so it seems) the more sensitized I am to chemicals and such. Matches what mentioned about chemical sensitivities increasing with metal detox and chelation. They tested me for bunches and bunches of things, and I was hypersensitive to almost all: protein, gluten, dairy, formaldehyde, electromagnetic, dust, mold, etc., etc., etc. I cleared many, but the Naet treatments didn't hold all that well. I hope that makes some sense. It's a testament to the complexity of all this that even those of us who speak the same language sometimes can be confused by another's explanations. n
