The Secret

I had to share this positive experience with all of you. Since my

recent meltdown, a posting I made " Just Want to Quit, " I have been

overwhelmed with support from all of you. Thank you, you truly

lifted my spirits when I was at my lowest.

By chance, fate, or Divine Intervention (I like to think it the

latter), I happened to be flipping through channels one evening and

Oprah's guests caught my attention. They were promoting a new DVD

called " The Secret " (also in book form). I was so inspired by the

positiveness these authors were sharing that I felt I had to watch

this DVD. So, during the show, I ordered it through Amazon.com. A

week later I got the video and our whole family sat down to watch

it. It was so inspiring.

When we live with OCD and the constant reminder of it in our homes

and everywhere, this DVD gave me hope to find a way to overcome the

lows of this condition, and to concentrate on life as a whole. OCD

is just 1 part of our lives, but we tend to give it all of our

attention. After watching " The Secret, " I have been able to work

through those tougher times with my OCD'r and leave out the negative

aspect of it all. (as you all reminded me, we have to take care of

our own selves too - not just the OCD'r.)

My 11 yr old daughter immediately made goals for herself and

constantly brings up things from the DVD. After requiring my OCD son

(15 yrs old) to watch the DVD again and not sleep through it, as

with the first time we all watched it, he too has seen its point,

referred it to his friends, and actually taken to heart the positive

things life offers. Our conversations have a more positive tone, and

he's made goals for himself as well.

It's just the beginning, but I have high hopes for him and our

family. I recommend you all to read the book and watch the DVD.
