Houston enzymes vs. Kirkman's enzymes

Hello, We had our son on Kirkman's enzyme aid for several months

now. We recently switched him over to Houston enzymes. He has been

on Houstons since Wednesday. Has anyone on this list used Kirkman's

enzymes and switched to Houstons? It's too early to tell at this

point any changes. I would appreciate any findings any one of you

might have. The reason for switching enzymes was that we read and

heard a great deal of positive regarding houston enyzmes. I don't

plan on taking my son off the gfcf diet. I am dedicated to helping

him and I figure that if one enzyme works better for him than another

that is what we will use. Thanks for your time.

The biggest difference I saw with the enzymes is that my son is able to eat

some " no-no " foods. That has never happened before and to me it is worth it!

Are you 100% GFCF or partial GFCF or not GFCF with enzymes. Thank you.

We used a different protease enzyme product from the health food

store and were not able to have casein foods with it without

reaction. I wanted to return to having at least some trace amounts of

casein using enzymes so that was a goal for me. We used Peptizyde

with great success for a couple months. Then tried a bottle of

EnzymAid but were not able to use it with casein foods successfully.

I needed to use about 4 EnzymAids to equal 1 Peptizyde to have a

little casein. Also, the boys were less " pleasant " or " happy child "

on the EnzymAid. So we went back to the Peptizyde. The Pep is less

expensive as well and with 3 people in the family on it, that adds up

fast.

I notice that Houston has 2 enzyme products as does Kirkman. Kirkman

recommends using them both together but they have plans to come out

with a EnzymAid Complete, 1 product that has it all.

Does Houston recommend taking both of their products too or are they

to be used seperately?

Peptizyde only breaks down proteins, so you would use it for gluten,

casein, soy and other food proteins. HN-Zyme Prime breaks down

proteins, carbohydrates and fats, but does not have as much protease

activity as Peptizyde, therefore, it is not as potent for breaking

down proteins. So, the Peptizyde for breaking down peptides, the

Zyme-Prime for everything else. My son takes both, and most parents

on the board report giving both. I would read the FAQ section at

www.houstonni.com to help you decide. I do know parents that only

give one or the other, so I would read more about the enzymes or call

Devin.
