Guest guest
Ok, I need some help, My 12 yr old daughter has been taking 200 mg Zoloft for a few years to help control her OCD (hand washing) due to fear of pencils (long story). Anyway was having trouble at school with talking alot. Her psychiatrist put her on 10 mg of regular Adderall to see if that would work for her. It worked wonderful so then the Dr. changed it to Adderall XR so it would last longer through the day. The problem seems that since she has been on the XR it has totally counter acted the Zoloft. She is having a terrible terrible time. I have a call in to the doctor and should speak w/her tomorrow. I was just curious if any of you have ever experienced this. Thanks, Kristi
Guest guest
No personal experience. But over the years other parents have said that the med for ADD aggravates/worsens OCD and that an OCD med can worsen ADD symptoms. So apparently it can be a delicate balance if severity of either is bad or something. Sounds like the regular Adderall is better for her OCD symptoms (i.e., not worsening them, whereas the XR/extended is). Good luck, let us know what you try next and how it works out! > > Ok, I need some help, My 12 yr old daughter has been taking 200 mg > Zoloft for a few years to help control her OCD (hand washing) due to > fear of pencils (long story). Guest guest
no personal experience here...but my neice was given Adderal XR and her mother called me describing the symptoms. I just started crying as it sounded so very OCD. But no, it was just the XR. after being taken off that and put on regular (non-extended) meds she was and is still just fine. This was a year and a half ago. I know they wish her meds would last through homework time; but, it is not worth the problems they experienced with the XR. Good luck.
