I have twin sons 15 with OCD with psychotic features and food

issues. Our story is very long, complicated and heartbreaking, but i

will try to condense. This all started after a move across country(Ohio

to Texas) 2 and a half years ago in which they never adjusted to a

totally different environment. They were perfectionist, overachievers

with genius IQs. About a year and a half ago they became obsessed

about eating healthy food and became very restricted in their eating,

which led to eventually stop eating and was being fed through a

NG tube. He also had alot of bedtime , light flicking ,rituals etc.

that he was doing. No one could help us. We finally found a well known

psychiatric hospital in Ca. that would take him with a feeding tube

where he was inpatient for 9 months. He was very withdrawn almost

catatonic. He was put on numerous meds with little improvement. After

almost dying he finally started eating with assistance(hand over

hand), but to this day has never been able to verbalize why. CBT

therapy could never be done because he would not open up to anyone. He

was sent home because they could not do anymore for him although

everyone involved stated he needed to be inpatient and insurance would

not pay more than 45 days, the 7 and a half months is our

responsibility. I moved to Ca with his twin and older sister for the 9

months he was hospitalized to be near him. There is no one in our city

with any expertise in this area and even his pediatrician will not see

him anymore because he is too " complicated " We have a psychiatrist who

sees him and monitors meds, but admits this is over his head. His

diagnoses was OCD( severe) and Psychotic Disorder NOS. He is currently

on clomimprimine 200 mg, lexapro 45 mg and seroquel 400 mg.He was an

clozaril 300 mg, but had to be stopped , blood count down to 2.8 and

seroquel just started as replacement .We have an aide come in 3 times

a day to help him eat because he will not eat for us. He spends his

days in his room doing rituals, except for the 2 hors a day he spends

in a special classroom at school. He needs help and prompting from me

with his ADL's. Will not watch TV, play games, read ,listen to music,

socialize with us,doesn't talk to us in more than simple yes no to

questions. wears the same pants shirt and shoes, even though they have

holes. Rituals consume every waking second. This is not a life it is an

existence. In 30 days he can be hospitalized again. We will take him

anywhere, do anything to help our son. Everyone states he is a very

unique case and needs expert help. The hospital he was in states he has

the most severe case of OCD they have ever seen. This poor child is in

dire need of help. I'm so afraid he will stop eating again. His twin

is now inpatient at a psych hospital in Texas with OCD. They are

testing for a possible thought disorder such as Schizophrenia or other

psychotic disorder. He was also hospitalized in the summer at the same

place was on the eating disorder unit. His OCD got to the point

that he could only eat turkey sandwiches on a specific wheat bread and

nothing else. He also had problems with thinking smells and loud

noises caused brain damage. After inpatient he continued on with weekly

outpatient therapy at the OCD clinic at the hospital. His therapist

told me he didn't know what Chris's illness would progress into. The

difference is that is very vocal about what he feels. He went

from being very studious and conservative to not caring about

anything, refusing to go to school and developing strange thoughts

about alternate realities. He wants to be emancipated and doesn't care

about being homeless. He has rages and uses drugs where before he

wouldn't even take a tylenol. He has become devious and conniving and I

do not trust him. My sons are not the same boys we raised for 13

years before this happened. This illness is destroying our family and

our daughter went to live with her aunt in New Jersey because Chris

and her together made each other worse. Please any advice on treatment

centers or hope you

can give us things right now seem very bleak. We just would like to

see our sons have their lives back and we do not know where to find

the right help. Thank you. I know this was long and I appreciate your

time. Michele
