Guest guest
Carie, I remember reading about a way around this. I'll try to look or perhaps someone else remembers what I'm talking about. I think it was in an archived post from this list that I read over the weekend. Anyone? Mom to , 7 unaffected , 4 GSD, hypogam, pneumococcal AD Meredith, 2 GSD, ?PI Huntsville, AL Switching IVIG brands AGAIN Can someone please tell me how to obtain a particular brand of IVIG that they say is not available? This will be the third time they switch products on my son, and he has done so great on Gammagard! How do I tell my doctor how to get this? The hospital says they only have one brand right now, and he is very allergic to the maltose that is in the new product. No one seems to care, and have told me to not bother coming for the next infusion if I won't use the new brand. He gets very sick for at least 10 days after the infusions- severe headaches, throwing up, nonstop crying. With his infusion of gammagard that he just got he has had no side effects! I am so very very upset about switching! What can I do, I have an appointment with my doctor soon and would like to know what I can ask him to do. Thanks Carie

Guest guest
Carie -- that is great that you found a brand for him (looking on the bright side!). We do home infusions as you know and the pharmacy sends us the medication. Could you not find a pharmacy thru Gammagard and have your insurance company pay the pharmacy directly (who then sends it to you)? - itsallaboutkreed@... wrote: Can someone please tell me how to obtain a particular brand of IVIG that they say is not available? Guest guest
Carie, I can't find what I was looking for but I'll keep trying. My suggestion for now would be to contact the manufacturer of the brand Kreed does well with and see if they can help and/or call the Immune Deficiency Foundation for suggestions.
