Guest guest
I am reaching out to anyone who has had trouble with SSRI's because of an underlying bipolar disorder. My daughter has been off meds for about two weeks because of serotonin syndrome and she is in a pronounced up-swing as far as her mood is concerned. Her doctor wants me to enjoy this " break " but I find it disturbing because she is now SO up that she can't be still. She HAS to be doing something at all times and she feels very unsettled if she is not kept busy. I can't keep up with her energy and her constant projects and I am worried that when she comes back down it will be twice as hard on her. I have been doing some reading on Bipolar and the literature states that mood stabilizers are most effective when you start them when the person is feeling up. When I talked with my daughter's psychiatrist today she agreed but said it did not apply to the drug Zyprexa. This is all further complicated by the persistent symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as nothing can be done until that has stabilized. Anyway... Zyprexa???? Anyone have experience with it?
