Guest guest
Terri, no no no.............Im sorry, I should have gone over more background before I posted this question, I guess. Donovan has had a full workup, along wtih my other 3 kids. Everyones B and T cells are fine, including donovans. In my kids, the ONLY problems are IgA, IgM, IgG, and subs. Donovans titers suck, and I already know that, so there is no point in re-testing that. Its been done, and he has no antibodies to several vacs, and very little to others. So, we knew that he had a previous IgG and sub deficiency, but at the time we presented all 4 kids to ID, his IgG levels were decent, but his IgA and IgM had nose dived. Along with the rotten titers, he is dx'd CVID, but at that time his IgG was just decent enough to not get him on immediate IVIG, and clinically, at that time, he was doing decently, so we waited. What I was saying was that I have heard others say that IVIG doesnt help the sinus issues, but for my Brennan, he has certainly improved on IVIG. His infections clear with one round of abx, generally, dont tend to move to lung infections so much, which means less asthma and malacia involvement, so we have been very pleased with his progress on IVIG, and if we decided to start Donovan on it, I would hope to see as much improvement with him. Im sorry if Im not writing clearly today, I am attempting to wean myself off some meds, and its causing me some whopper migraines and sometimes its hard to think straight:) Hope your appt goes well today. How come the kids look healthy right when we really want them to look sick?LOL WHERE are those feverish looking cheeks and globs of snot when you really want to show them off to someone?LOL I so hope you are going to be approved. I know how i felt the day we went for the hearing for the boys SSI, and I was just a bundle of nerves. For us, we had to prove it impacted their quality of life, and I went over each and every single thing that makes the boys lives different then other children their age........right down to how prednisone affects their personality, and mood, and how that causes problems for them as far as learning, Brennans ST, I tried to think of every single thing that was different for them than for an " average " kid.....and pushed those points. We did have to hire legal help......but after 3 yrs, we got it. I really, really , hope your family doesnt have to wait. valarie
