Good Morning Rogina, from a mom with kids as well as myself having

normal IgG levels....one subclass deficiency, specific antibody

disorder and low B and T Cells including NK cells......I hope they

are looking beyond JUST the Ig levels ....into the subclasses...the

enzymes that switch on an immune response....the complement

system....the T and B cells as well as function. You can have all

the IgG in the world, but if you can't get to them, they are worth

nothing. Just keep in mind that immune deficiency goes far beyond

just the overall Ig Levels. My now 4 year old had severe gastro

problems....never had a normal stool....until she started

immunoglobin replacement, She has normal Ig Levels....except that

her IgG 2 is twice the high end of normal. But she has had

absolutely no response to any of her childhood vaccinations or to the

pneumo vaccination. The day after her first IVIG, she had her first

normal stool and has never gone back to having tummy problems again.

I would just make sure they test everything. He is still at that age

where any shortages of Igs could be transient and may resolve. Many

times, the labs relate levels to an adult ,particulary if it is a lab

(like ours) that is not used to testing kids for immune deficiency

and the parameters may be higher than what is approprate for his

age. You might want to check into that. I wish you luck. It is a

frustrating battle as I am well aware. But persevere knowing that

Flynn is what is important.

, I think you said it is your child that does not have an immune

deficiency that has the foot thing? Are they sure she does not have

a yeast infection? Yeast is one of the fungi that causes athletes

foot. I have had a couple of bouts with foot fungus this past year

thanks to my DH. It is horrible....terrible burning and

swelling....red....etc. If you have a problem with your feeet due to

yeast, antibiotics will make it worse.....much worse. I hope you

find the answer so she can get some releif!

They are checking her pneumo antibody level to see if it has dropped. I

want them to culture her nasal infection to see what it is. We go Nov

1 to see the immunologist. I will find out more then, I hope.

The dermatologist checked the feet for yeast, and it wasn't. That is

what we originally thought the problem was. We tried topical antibiotic

ointments, etc.... no luck. When pus started, the derm did the culture

and sensitivity. They can do a scraping and check under a microscope

to see if it is fungal. That was the first thing the derm did.

I hope the infection clears. I also hope you can get into a

dermatologist quickly. It takes almost 6 months to get in to see one

here.

Teri,

not sure which you were addressing, since both of us are ...my

daughter with the feet problem does have CVID...the inflammed skin is not

broken, dry, or flaking...she currently has a yeast infection elsewhere, due to

her antibiotics. Her feet are worse again today, same day the yeast infection

presented... She was given oral Difuclan today and if her feet aren't better by

Monday, I will call a dermo. From what I hear, yeast overgrowth in your system

can do all sorts of awful things...

thanks teri.
