Chris....

Thanks for the response. Actually, I was more concerned whether or not

someone else in their family was exposed when she was contagious & doesn't

start

to show symptoms before my dd spends time with them.... you know what I mean?

Then that person might pass it to my dd.

THAT'S what I'm concerned about!!! This woman still doesn't have a voice

after a full run of antibiotics. What if she infected HER daughter - who may

not show symptoms yet... then MY daughter goes & spends 2 days with them.

UGH.

nerve wrecking call - but yes if she was around them already the

exposure is done I'd say and if not - I find any sickness can make it

worse - usually just colds here and tiredness is all it takes so since

we can't keep them in bubbles I'd say if she really wants to go maybe

just jump to a doc at the slighest increase in symptoms???

good luck

I dont know. I never really thought about it much, because PANDAS is not our

situation, either. I DO know ANY illness can aggrivate OCD. But I wonder if

she is just exposed to it and doesnt get it, if it would do anything?

Sharon

Holidays.... STREP..... etc....

Ok, first I would like to say....

MERRY CHRISTMAS.... HAPPY HANUKKAH.... and a very general.. HAPPY HOLIDAYS

to everyone on the board. No matter what you & yours celebrate this time of

year, may it be the most wonderful celebration ever!!!

Second, I must admit I've never paid much attention to the posts regarding

PANDAS (as they didn't relate to my daughter)... seems like that is mostly

young children - yes/no? But now I have a question regarding OCD & strep. My

OCD dd (15yrs) has been invited to spend a few days with a friend at their

ocean front condo during this holiday vacation. Her mother tested positive for

Strep last weekend & has been on antibiotics but STILL isn't completely well.

Her husband is now on antibiotics because his ears starting hurting within

a few days of her coming down with Strep.

Can Strep aggravate OCD? I'm not quite sure I understand the connection

between the two.... other than the folks who have posted about PANDAS & that's

how their child's OCD first started up.

Does anyone think I need to worry about my dd spending time with this family

( I mean... other than the obvious fact that they've been sick..... I mean

directly relating to making her OCD worse????? Is this possible?) DD is

currently still on 30mg of Prozac per day (actually, it's a 10/20 mg taken

every

other day for an average of 30mg). She's still doing quite well at that

level. I don't want to take any chances though. No one in our family has had

Strep for years & years..... the kids have even been around people who have

had

it. I started wondering if we were somewhat resistant to it... I don't

know if that's possible.

At any rate.... does anyone have an opinion about Strep aggravating OCD??????

Good question.... I have NO idea! We're letting our daughter go visit her

friend for the weekend as planned & just hope for the best. The other family

seems to be doing much better now. It appears that their daughter (our

daughter's friend) did not come down with anything.

so not a shock here but now to see if the titers are up - hope I

didn't wait too long - I need to see the rise to have something to go

on - I'm about 100% that they're up but one doc is not on board so I

need to show the connection - good luck sharon
