When I first found out that had Aspergers, I was told that one of Aspy's characteristics was if he was not interested in something it just did not exist in his world. I have found that basically true the last 2 plus years. However, he is completing his 4th week of Middle School and he is showing interest in lots of things that "normal" 11 years olds are interested in. He is using tools to help build his skills, that he should have used much more in Elementary School, Flash Cards, cursive, studying things in his study books, etc. He got his initial grades today; As in Reading, Language Arts and Science and Cs in Geography and Math. Is this a success story or what? I am so thankful to God that he is off to a good start.

Well, we know he will never be "normal" but any change that moves him closer to "normal" gives us another reason to praise God. He went to the Psychiatrist after school today for a med check. Usually, says a max of 10 words to him. Today, he was really chatty, talking about Middle School, stuffed animals and growing taller. Finally, Dr Al B commented on how talkative he was etc. just grinned really big. The Dr was really pleased! Me too. sunrose101@... wrote: Good work Doris! In a message dated 9/7/2007 12:27:36 A.M.
