Guest guest
Can someone please help me understand the difference between OCD behaviors and stimming behaviors? A recent SPECT scan showed that my son has anxiety disorder bordering on OCD. He's had an autism diagnosis in the past but it has recently been ruled out by two sources. However, he does do the classic autistic-like hand flapping at times. For example, currently he is obsessed with football, which would be great but the only thing he really cares about when watching football is for the players' helmets to fall off. That's all he'll talk about when the game is on. When he's outside playing with his helmet on all he wants to do is make it fall off so he'll pretend to get tackled so that it will, or he'll stand up against a tree and then knock it off that way. I'm assuming he's getting some sort of " feel good " internally from this. Actually, he's always liked to have things fall. He'll put Mr. Potato Head together and then push him off the edge of the table. Same with Woody except Woody falls off the back of a chair that he's riding like a horse. Same with goggles that get knocked off the back of a boat like in Finding Nemo. You get the picture. There are other things that I'm wondering about, but I'll just start with this one and go from here! Thanks,
