Guest guest
Eileen, He takes 1 1/2 tsp. in the morning and again at night. He's around 55 lbs. and 8 yrs. old. My OCD'er that's 11 take Coromega.. When that's gone she's switching to the same as my son. It certainly is expensive for all of our different fish oils! Guest guest
wow that seems like a lot -do you know what works out to so I can compare to Coromega? -why the switch for you?? which costs less-sorry so many nosy questions eileen Quoting Dina <dina.n.jones@...>: > Eileen, > > He takes 1 1/2 tsp. in the morning and again at night. Guest guest
Does anyone see a difference in symptoms with omega/Inositol or just mood as we do? wondering if it should be increased eileen Quoting Dina <dina.n.jones@...>: > Eileen, > > He takes 1 1/2 tsp. in the morning and again at night. Guest guest
Hi Eileen, Remind me how much omega/inositol your child is taking and how old etc. I always hate to comment on how well my son is doing for fear of jinxing it (OCD of me, I know!), but he has had a nice long spell of waning (over a year at a subclinical level, we touch base with his psychologist every 6 months or so). He weighs about 95 lbs. and takes 3 caps of Omegabrite 2X a day (for a total of 2.1 grams of EPA and 300 mg DHA per day) as well as inositol 2X per day (for a total of 10-12 grams per day). I have been decreasing his inositol lately to see if he can maintain his gains at a lower dose. My sons OCD is/was mainly very distressing bad thoughts with no overt compulsions other than to try to busy himself excessively to avoid " thinking " . I hope this helps some. I know everyone is different and nothing works 100% for all people. I am just thankful to those on this list who shared their knowledge of inositol (Chris Castle) and fish oil ( in MA) with the rest of us. Best to you-- Adrien P.S. To address your question: When we initially started with the fish oil his change in mood was the first thing we noticed and then with the addition of the inositol (after about 3 months of consistent use at about the 10 gram range) we noticed a reduction in symptoms. He was also in weekly CBT/ERP therapy at the time. > > Does anyone see a difference in symptoms with omega/Inositol or just > mood as we do? wondering if it should be increased > eileen > > > > > > > > > > Quoting Dina <dina.n.jones@...>: > > > Eileen, > > > > He takes 1 1/2 tsp. in the morning and again at night. Guest guest
hi thanks so much for responding - I too am so thankful for the info on here as the omega 3 and inositol has definately made her happier - her issues are bathroom / washing / dressing issues (needing it to feel right etc, counting )so i wonder if complusions are affected??? i was just following the coromega directions of 1 packet a day and didn't know if others up that in OCD kids - inositol wise we're at only a 1/2 gram a day - so I'm thrilled she's so happy with such little intervention but these rituals are out of control - she did choose a couple of ways to make the washing shorter(thanks Chris) but I'm not pushing too much and starting erp jan 15th!!! thanks again eileen Quoting lv2_read <jnas5@...>: > Hi Eileen, > Remind me how much omega/inositol your child is taking and how > old etc. I always hate to comment on how well my son is doing for > fear of jinxing it (OCD of me, I know!), but he has had a nice long > spell of waning (over a year at a subclinical level, we touch base > with his psychologist every 6 months or so). Guest guest
We are also having success with Omega 3-6-9, chewables, and inosital, 1.5 t per day. A few random bad thoughts, but nothing that is not manageable. Thanks for the knowledge!!
