This is absolutely true. A traumatic incident can bring out OCD full-force. It's already there, dormant until something happens to trigger it. Looking back at my daughter in her preschool days, she has exhibited OCD tendencies all her life, but nothing over-the-top that would make anyone suspicious of unusual behavior... just little things. Guest guest
Same here. Now that I know, I can look back and see little things that were signs. I just didnt know until it started really effecting her. I dont see one specific issue triggering it, but it just started coming on stronger and stronger until she was at her worst when we got help. She has come a LONG way since then. Before her dx, she was in OT for sensory issues and low muscle tone and low endurance. She was also in a feeding program at the same time, to deal with her sensory related food issues. She loved going to both. She started showing some signs of anxiety near the end of this and we talked to the psychologist there once. She was NOT full force OCD yet, and nothing really came of the appt. At Xmas, I ran into one of the teachers she had there. I told her of the OCD and anxiety dx now and she said the really made sense and answered a lot of questions from the past as to what really was going on with her.
