This is a biggie in our house. The boys' therapist taught them that " fair

doesn't mean equal " . Mine were around 8 when we started using this method,

they're almost 10 now and I'm finally starting to see progress.

What we did was this: Every time someone complained " It's not fair! " we said

" Fair doesn't mean equal " and then find an example of a time when they got

something someone else didn't get. I had gotten so paranoid about things being

equal that I had to purposely start making it not equal to come up with

examples!

For instance, if Austin complained that I played a game with , I'd point

out to Austin that he had gotten to go to Walgreens with me while stayed

home. They each had gotten 20 minutes or so of " mommy time " but not at the same

time or in the same way.

Hope this helps.
