504 High school and College

Hi Just a quick note - re; the 504, one of my special needs students

(college) did not mention the ADHD he experiences and he was disenrolled. I met

with him today, it was sad, his mother was irate (I would be too), but he seemed

ashamed. Too bad though as these are in place to help even in college. He's a

great kid too, very personable - so now, after being disenrolled he gets it - I

wish he had told me prior of the needs. It would surprise one how many students

in college today sit in separate rooms for testing, etc. due to special needs -

I'm proud of those kids that accept themselves as they are. Very best, Deb

about it. Two days ago he told me. Yesterday was better he said. I

haven't asked today (too busy, running around...) and he's at his

fencing club now. But I have a feeling his grades will suffer this

semester. He doesn't want to use his 504 Plan, hasn't had to use it

once so far in high school. I did tell him 2 days ago that *this* is

why he has to let his college know when he enrolls so when OCD pops

up like this, let them know at enrollment so it'll be easier if

something comes up. (He wasn't planning to say anything in college.)

Let us know how things turn out. Glad dad feels some relief for

mornings now!

I didn't know you could be disenrolled?? Do you just mean he failed

his classes, that type thing?
