Guest guest
" SCIG is an option too....We started on SCIG....we didn't start with IVIG and switch " . - In additional to all of the other things you are considering, what mentioned may be another important topic -- if you go the IgG therapy route. SCIG is IgG infused subcutaneously; tiny needles infuse IgG into fat tissue (often the belly or thigh) and mom can do this at home. This is a new therapy in the U.S. (FDA approved this year!) and even the docs are still learning about this! Our group tend to be super early adopters. IVIG, in contrast, requires hospital or outpatient services and, lately, this has been a money loser for the doc's offices. SCIG can be ordered through a home health agency, is done at home, and thus is much cheaper and less of a headache for the doc -- e.g., it does not stress the doc in terms of money, effort, or time. I don't know anything about Dr. S., but, for some docs, economic and time constraints may drive their decisions...just another thought... btw, there is another mom here () who was told her kiddo needed IVIG and later the doc changed his mind. She is still here -- recovering from her kiddo's latest bug (hope you are feeling better ). Good luck! mom to CVIDer
