Guest guest
Okay, I’m setting a goal for the year to log my workouts here, even if it is only once a week to list all of them, so that I’m accountable to someone for actually doing them. I’m planning on logging on Facebook, too, so sorry friends you’re seeing this stuff more then once. LOL 1/1/10 VO2 Max testing—15 minute mile on the treadmill—VO2 Max of 50. Followed by my own stability ball workout for 30 minutes and a 15 minute stretch/relaxation. 1/2/10 On Just Mommies, we’re doing a monthly 5K challenge. Basically, it is to get everyone on there to do something for 5K, whether it is walking, jogging, biking, etc. For those who don’t have access to any of that equipment or are snowed in, they can do the equivalent by doing 45 to 60 minutes of cardio of any kind. Anyway, since I’ve never intentionally gone 5K, I decided to do it on the treadmill. I walked though, because I had just jogged the day before for the VO2 Max test. That and I really don’t like jogging. At least with walking, the treadmill is quiet enough I can watch tv to stay occupied. IF I jog, it’s too loud to hear the tv and it jostles too much for reading. Anyway, I did 5K (which is 3.1 miles for those who would have to look that up like me) in 63 minute 47 seconds. I followed that up with Cathe’s Stretch Max Band option. Sorry, I don’t know which # it is because I recorded mine from FitTV. I left it running through commercials and kept stretching during them, so I got a full 30 minutes of stretching. While I love Cathe, she really doesn’t hold the stretches long enough for me. Still felt good though. 1/3/10 I’m planning to workout everyday in the month of January, but firmly believe in rest days, so my Sundays are scheduled as relaxation type workouts of yoga, pilates, tai chi, etc., but nothing strenuous, just relaxing, gentle workouts. So, today I searched our On Demand service and found Restoration Yoga from Sportskool. It is a 31 minute practice that is super relaxing. Only one downward dog in the whole thing and that was toward the end. A lot of bending and using pillows for support. It’s suppose to align the spine but I felt more relaxation then realignment. It really worked for what I wanted today though, so I was really happy. If only I had done it right before bed after the kids had quieted down for the night, I probably would have fallen right to sleep afterward. If I made it past the part where you lay on the two pillows in an almost bound angle pose. I could have easily fallen asleep in that pose! Next time I wake up at 3am and can’t go back to sleep, I’ll pull this one up and see if it helps insomnia. Tonya
