Guest guest
Hi Everyone, This morning was Shred Level 2 again - I like this one - it is pretty tough my HR is way up there throughout the 18 minutes (3 circuits). I sub'd regular push-ups for the walking push-ups, I feel I get more out of the regular push-ups and the walking push-ups worry me about my back getting too stressed from the forward bending involved in doing them. After Shred, I did Petra's Cardio for Beginners and did both of the athletic cardio routines - one is 10 mintues, one is 20 minutes - so total of 30 minutes. This isn't a super intense workout (as the name would indicate!). I'd put it in the intensity range of a 2 mile that did not include jogging intervals, but, it is a very nice add on workout for me - or a warm-up workout and makes a nice alternative to when I need something of this intensity. All the moves are low-impact and Petra teaches add on style with a lot of taking it from the top. It is really a good one for beginners to get familiar with aerobics choreogrpahy. There are two other routines on the DVD - 10 minute "dancey" cardio and 20 minute "dancey" cardio. I may do one of those as a warm-up to my Saturday stretch session. Finally, I finished off w/ a recorded Classical Stretch from Season 6 (2009 series) which is currently airing on my PBS station. Another winner of a routine for me today - this one had some standing leg work, then some full body stretches, then some floorwork for legs followed by lower body stretches. CS does seem to work wonders for my back and body. So, I'm feeling really good about my exercise - but not really good about the weight I keep gaining. Today's number on the scale was the highest in a long while. By most people's standards I have nothing to worry about weight wise, but I want to get things back under control. I know that some of this is holiday backlash and some of it is that I'm not being as careful as I should be now. I'm having larger portions and too many treats. I will just have to work on that. Thinking of keeping a diary for a couple of days to see what is going on. Anyway, hope everyone has a good day!Donna
