Hi Everyone,

I didn't feel like doing No More Trouble Zones today. I have done that workout or the "quick" variation of it quite a bit in this rotation and just felt like a change this morning. I tried to find something similar - more of an endurance workout, combined/compound movements. I decided to go for Turbo Sculpt - which I haven't done in a VERY long time. I definately enjoyed it - the music alone was worth the change. Why can't all exercise videos/DVDs have good music? Why is it so hard to do that??? Anyway, this one is probably a bit easier than NMTZ but it did fit the bill in terms of combined movements, endurance focus. A couple of complaints - not much ab work and very short cool down. Also Chalene's form did look a bit off on the squats - I am just aware of that though b/c it is easy for me to hurt my back by doing a squat improperly. She looked like she tended to lean forward too much

- but, it isn't a big deal to me as I can just do my own thng and not follow her form.

After Turbo Sculpt I did a 10 min Pilates ab routine from Exercise TV. was the instructor - it was fine - nothing new, just what you would expect from Pilates ab work on the mat.

Finally, I did a recorded Classical Stretch from the 2009 TV series that is currently airing on PBS. I loved it! So far I have liked every episode that I recorded, so I think my next "big" purchase will be the 2009 TV Series (and probably two other items so I can get free shipping). Between the series and the other two items, I'll probably spend over $100 so I'd better save my pennies. But, it will be worth it as I really feel that I get a lot of benefit from these exercises and the TV series is perfect for adding on - each workout is around 20 minutes or so - so very easy to fit in just about every day.

The scale and I are still not getting along. I guess I haven't exactly been on the clean eating wagon long enough to expect results, but.....it is still frustrating not seeing it at least move in the right direction. *SIGH*. I had read a thread on VF that someone who was doing Jillian's 30 Day Slim Down rotation was having the same problem w/ the scale (going up instead of down). I wonder...it could be water retention - it is definately not 2 or 3 lbs of muscle in 3 weeks! :)I'm wondering if my body just prefers "gentler" workouts like Pilates, Ellen Barret, etc. When I focus on those workouts I rarely have scale issues. Ah, I guess I shouldn't obsess about it so much. I'm just feeling pudgy - and I guess if I weren't feeling pudgy I wouldn't even weigh myself (I rarely do weigh myself - only when I feel pudgy to see if it is my imagination or not...)

Tuesday and Wed food was decent - and today I'm doing well so far. Gotta keep it going. Unfortunately, I think diet (food intake) plays more of a role in weight than exercising.

Tomorrow I have cardio/Pilates planned. Later today if I have the time I think I will do my push-up circuit but intersperse 2 minutes on the TM to help burn a few more calories (in lieu of laundry folding between sets!)

Oh, on a very positive note, I'm so happy that I'm able to do workouts like NMTZ, Turbo Sculpt, etc. It really is proof that my back has really gotten much better - last year there was no way I could do these without some ill effects - now I'm doing them and feeling great! YAY!

Hope everyone has a good day!Donna

I know it costs a lot to buy music for dvd, even the covers.  Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs both have pretty good music, I think!  So do the CIA workouts; they often use Dynamix, a company that mixes music by cover artists for aerobics ihsntructors.

I'm ashamed to say I still haven't done Turbo Sculpt!  It's nice to hear your back is doing well with the new workouts!  I wouldn't worry too much about the scale from the workout standpoint.  I'd focus more on snacking less?  Hard, I know... I struggle every day at 3:00 pm!

Thanks - re: the scale! Consensus on VF is that it is water retention from changing up my workouts. Could be......but I also know that my diet has not been 100% either. So far, though, I have had 3 good days!

Good workouts again Donna.....I agree with your comment that diet plays more of a role than exercise does, I know in my case anyway, its about 80% diet and 20% exercise. If I don't do the diet I don't get results no matter how much I exercise.
