Re: the scale...

I really like having a food scale around.  I am a creature of habit and usually eat the same kinds of things, and record my common eats on my spreadsheet. A Kraft shredded Fat Free cheese serving is 1/4 cup so I keep the little measuring cup in the bag itself and weigh the ground spiced extra lean turkey on the food scale for the burrito.  The chicken is dense so it does seem small, but for the pate-ish ground turkey when I make the burrito the 3 oz seems generous by comparison.

I'm struggling too and trying to make changes.  I've cut way back on wine which helps, but like tonite I'm going out to our favorite pizza joint and I just know I will pig out.  It's a treat to go there, not something I do often. But the fact remains my calorie and fat count will be outta site today.  I'm eating lean today to help counter it.. Aunt Flo is late and i'm feeling bloated.  Can't wait to be on the skinny side of the month again!

I've been watching the biggest loser more or less for the first time these past 2 weeks and it's very inspiring!

I really like to eat... it's a sensually delightful experience.

Ugh - I hear you on going out to eat!! I'm going out tonight with some friends and I already checked out Dotti's Weight Loss Zone - to figure out what to get. We're going to Houlihan's for appetizers/happy hour. I could get soup - but that doesn't exactly hit the spot. :(

Then, on Sat I'm going out AGAIN to a pizza place and I'm sure my calories will be through the roof, I could get something else, but....nothing else appeals to me. Maybe I should start eating better on Sunday after my "outings" are all over - but I'm really distressed by the direction my scale is going in - UP - so maybe the thing to do is make wise choices when I go out so I can feel good about myself the next day.

Take care,

Donna

Hang in there Donna!  The scale went up for me, but it was temporary and is now going back in the right direction!  I haven't weighed this much in a long time (unless after giving birth)  NO EXCUSE OR REASON..Staying focused this time!

So I am convinced that my inability to get out and go to nice dinners is why even though I am not doing any exercise, I have lost over 15 lbs after my surgery. I love food, I can sit and watch food stuff on TV all day. I love to try new recipes, restaurants are my fave and Top Chef is a must for me!But being home I have been eating lots of soups (cold out), smoothies etc.good luck everyone - judy in DCFrom: Donna M-P

Going out to eat is definately a killer - just reading the calories in the dishes is enough to make me swear off eating out! You can literally get your day's calories and more in one meal that you eat in a restaurant. YIKES!Donna

Just so you all know you're not alone... the scale has gone up 2 weeks in a row for me and I know it is due to birthday celebrating and stress eating. I'm not even up a pound total but it is moving me away from where I want to be and I was only a pound away from new exercise clothes!! Now I have to lose a pound and a half before I can get my reward for getting back to my last spring (and favorite) weight. It shouldn't be that hard but I've let myself get away from my usual portion control and I'm paying for it. I've been journaling it though so I'm accountable, but even that wasn't changing my attitude. This week already feels different though so I hope the scale reflects it. Tonight was another birthday dinner and I was a lot more under control. Not perfect but at least more progress than the last week or two. I was way over my daily points but I've journaled it all. I had a good, strong workout today too so that at least helped a little. I think it helped me feel more in control especially, though I wasn't thinking about it as I was eating. Here's to a good week for us all!

We can do this ! 2010 is going to be a great year!!!

I need to break out the food scale again myself. Eye opening and depressing at

the same time.

I HEART the Biggest Looser. I take that as my off day and iron clothes while I

watch it.

One thing I've gotten really good at is portioning out a take home box of a

whole other meal off my restaurant plate. The calories aren't as bad when split

in two. Also a money saver!!!

Great news Judy! Restaurant food is my downfall. I'm a huge foodie and I never

have anyone to cook for because of Terry's schedule, so I rely to heavily on

other people's culinary feats.

a, I'm feeling confident too about 2010.  I already feel my skirt is looser.  TOM still isn't here, on day 36 now, so any second now I'll be on the skinny side of the month and can't WAIT! Hugs,
