I did Cathe's Slow and Heavy Bi's, Tri's and also Shoulders today and followed

up with Jillian s Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, ....I don't really care

for Jillian much but on this DVD you can choose to just have the music and not

have to listen to her. I love circuit style workouts like this, I'm so not able

to follow complicated choreography and I trip over my feet with anything dancy,

so I really like plyometric and athletic type cardio. I  finished it off with

Tony Horton's Stretch from Power Half Hour. I make the most of the time off from

work because once I go back on January 5th I don't have as much time to work

out, I work 5 x 12 hour shifts and I try to aim for 30 minutes in the morning

and 30 minutes at night, but it doesn't always work. Hope everyone has a great

Great workout - and, by the way, Welcome out of Lurkdom - it is good to have you here and I enjoyed your pictures - you look great.

I like this workout from Jillian, too. I have a couple of her workouts, but i have trouble doing them b/c she bugs me! :)

Thanks Donna...its good to be here and I look forward to participating in 2010. Because Jillian's workouts really do work for me I find that I can ignore my dislike for her most of the time!! This style of workout can lean me out like nothing else, Slim series is great as well but I don't have that amount of time any more so the shorter workouts are the ones I do the most. Hi Andie!

I've been meaning to say hi and welcome so I'll just do it now! "Hi!" and "Welcome!" I'm glad you decided to delurk and join in the conversations! I'm , I've been jumping in and out, mostly out lately but hope to be more active (in the group and life) next month. I only have Jillian's Cardio Kickbox and 30 Day Shred workouts but have been considering getting her other ones, especially since I got some Borders gift cards for Christmas! My schedule has been and will continue to be crazy and I'm starting to look toward short, intense workouts again (was focused on those for a while earlier this year or last year). I don't mind Jillian too much, just the tough girl posing stuff gets on my nerves but her workouts are good for me. Which ones do you recommend?

Hi ....thanks for the welcome. My Jillian faves are 30 DS and Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism, you can definitely get the job done with just those 2. Banish Fat is 7 six minute cardio circuits with a variety of moves including some plyo jumps, jumping jacks, high knees type moves, definitely back to the gym moves, but you can modify them if you have problem knees/hips/ankles, it's about 50 minutes long incl warm up/cool down but is chaptered so you can just choose which circuits you want to do if time is a problem. Her No More Trouble Zones is 7 six minute weight circuits, 50 minutes incl warm up and cool down, again it is chaptered so you can choose which body parts to do if you want a shorter workout. Like you, I need the shorter workouts and these certainly get the job done

for me.

You're welcome , it is a very good workout and once you've done it and become familiar with it you can choose to work out with just the music, that way you don't have to listen to Jillian.Andie

That might help. I like some of what she has to say, but the tough girl stuff just gets to be too much. I'm on my own tonight for the first time since... honestly I have no idea. My daughter is sleeping at a friend's house and my DH and son are at a hockey game. I might just do some shopping! :-)

Enjoy your alone time , with young children, husband and the busy life that you have, alone time is there to be enjoyed.....so enjoy it to the fullest!!!

Would you believe... I ended up taking advantage of no one here and did some housework???? Crazy, I know but with the kids home and life being beyond insane the last month or so it was desperately needed and made me feel more comfortable here. I also listed a ton of stuff (non exercise related) on freecycle and almost all of it is being picked up tomorrow! It was good... DH is home and DS is asleep. Now the hubster and I are watching the Alamo Bowl (my school, Michigan State University, is playing and is actually winning, for now anyway). Gotta go to sleep soon though, been up since 6 and in motion for most of that time it seems!

Hi ,

Not crazy at all - sometimes you just need to clean up the physical clutter to have a clear mind - I find myself to feel more focused and rested if the house is in order! :) And, it is a lot faster to do it when no one is home!!! :)

That was definitely both the reasons for doing it! I did more today even though the big kid was home sick. He was mostly in his room so I worked around the house quite a bit. It is feeling better and better. That was after trying to get to work but having to turn around because the conditions were horrible. Not a lot of snow but MUCH ice. We were going 5 and 10 miles per hour on the expressway. It takes me 45 minutes to get to the center I work at on Mondays and after more than an hour and only going the equivalent distance that usually takes me about 25 minutes I called my boss to say I probably wasn't going to make it in time for either meeting (one at 9:30 and one at 10:30, it was already 9:15). She told me to turn around and go home and they'd handle it. Luckily, someone nearby was able to get over there (the receptionists could have just done a walk-in if necessary though, letting people weigh but no meeting). When I finally was able to turn around I'd been driving 1 1/2 hours and it took me another 45 minutes to get home! DH was home with the kid and he went into work shortly after I got home. By then, conditions were greatly improved thankfully. Big kid is feeling better so I'm praying he's going to school tomorrow. It is my one and only day off (besides Sundays) and I want the time truly alone! I could have worked out today but didn't feel like it, just wanted to get stuff done around the house. Tomorrow, assuming the kid is fine I am planning to do something, just don't know what yet.
