Not

counting the first couple shots – my sides took 24-30 hours to start and

would last a couple days, but nothing unmanageable. Toward the end though, it

would kick in 18-20 hours and last 4-5 days. It was mostly the fatigue and lethargy

that got me. You might want to do your shots after you get home from the harm

reduction center so you have a whole week before you have to go back.

don’t think the companies can really tell you what to expect since every

person is different.

Hi Folks,

For those of you that have taken

Pegasys I have a a couple of questions. I have gone around and around with

Pegassist and Roche and nobody will fess up.

My questions are these:

1. How long from the time of

injection do the sides effects start? I know when I took Intron-A it was pretty

much like clockwork. The sides came on in 4-6 hours mostly closer to 4 hours.

2. How long was the duration, after

the injection, that the sides were the worst and/or when did they peak?

I ask the questions obviously for

planning purposes as to when to take my injections. Any help from those with

experience with Pegasys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Allan,

I did not have any reaction from my 1st or 2nd shot. I took a Tylenol extra strength, did my shot and went to bed. Most people I have heard from wake up at night with chills or sweats or both. I did my shot on Friday night hoping that I would feel ok for the weekend because my wife is off on weekends. That worked for me because I didn't feel bad until the second or third day. My sides were fatigue, aches and pains, nausea, just a yucky feeling and about the third or fourth day after my shot I felt better.

Reminders,

Take the Ribovirin with a little food, peanut butter is good,

I forget the water formula, just drink a lot, it can be something sugar and caffeine free. I used Crystal Light.

I stocked the fridge and cupboards and cleaned the house just in case I felt really bad.

Don't miss a dose, missed doses have been tied to non response.

Don't smoke, don't drink alchohol (do as I say, not as I do, ha)

Keep us informed,were very nosy (concerned)

Hi !

Thanks so much for the response! This is my second attempt at Tx. I did 8 months of the original combo (3 injections a week). I'm planning to do my shot on Friday night as well. My volunteer activity is Wed/Thurs/Fri so I'm hoping any sides will be gone by then. My first shot will be Oct. 6th. I smoke but not a lot and I don't drink at all. As you suggested, I figure I'll load up on frozen microwaveable stuff for those days when I don't feel like cooking.

I'm really anxious (not in a bad way) to see how the sides are. It was pure hell for me the first time but it sounds like it may be more tolerable. I'm viewing this as a warm-up for Infergen. I already drink a ton of fluids so I'll just ad maybe another gallon. As for missing a dose they gave me a starter kit with a pillbox made for the ribavarin. I remember counting the capsules more than once when I lost track LOL.

Oct. 6 will be a big day for me as in the morning I'll be in Parris Island watching my twin nephews graduate USMC boot camp then it's a 4 hour drive home. By shot time I'll be ready to crash.

Hello Allan,

I have been on pegasys for about 2 yrs now, using it as a maintance

dose due to not responding. The sides can be severe for some, but in

my experience using it, I have tolorated it quite well. The major

concern is blood values becoming low, ie; white count,paletlets, red

cells. if that occurs supporting meds are needed, procrit, neupogen.

As a matter of fact, I will be trying a new full tx regement in a few

days. I will be doing 1200 mg. of ribavirin and 180 mcg. of pegasys.

So I will be right there with you in another attempt to get the virus

in remission. My VL at this time is 41 million. So, we can both hope

to kick the bastard's ass together. If you have any questions, or

I'm doing the same dose as you. When I did the 3x a week combo it was 8 months of pure hell for me so I'm really interested to see the difference this time. My VL is at 109 Mil now.

Hey Jon,

Great to here from you here. That will be fun going along with treatment with Allan. I have done the same treatment twice, so I will be interested in how you do. My viral load is only 2,000,000. I get to wait awhile and see, but I will be eager to follow how you guys do.
