Guest guest
Hi Guys, Well, my doctor filled out the forms & I took them to disability & it's all set up. The woman at disability said "Oh we've got plenty of time" & I darn near fainted. The tests etc are scheduled in less than a month & I was stressing that my doc was out of town so long, knowing the usual speed of government work. Any other time they would have given me hell for bringing it in so late. I'll only be away for three days so I'll fill you all in when I get home, k? They've got every moment of my time scheduled while I'm there. Disability will pay for the airfare both ways, the lodging & oddly enough the first & last day's food (at $28/day) plus they'll give you $70 for taxi fare as needed to & from the hospital. Not too bad for government work. SpYke will be taken care of by my next door neighbour. She has promised to come by & feed him a couple times a day, let him out on his leash for a bit & fuss over him whenever possible. Sounds like he's going to have a good time while I'm gone. Guest guest
Hey Toots You did it and all set -up. Now you need to find enough time to play tourist on vacation find an internet cafe and keep us posted on your testing adventures. I can't wait to read it. Before it's over with they are going to test you from head to toe and everything in between. I think I hated the mammogram the most. It's still a very sadistic test for our day and techno age. You must be taking your lactulose to get this all arranged. You hired a private secretary ????? Honey you are doing a great job and we are very proud of you. Love and Hugs. Guest guest
Deb, they've got me scheduled for an endoscopy & a colonoscopy on my last day there - I'll stack those two up against your mammogram any day. I plan on telling them first thing that they can either give me drugs - lots of drugs - or have eight VERY large orderlies there, one for each arm, each leg & my head - no teeth left but I can still bite then they'll need two to sit on my back & stop me from wriggling plus an eighth as a utility infielder so to speak & go where the trouble is. I'm hoping for drugs. SuZieDeb <posttransplant@...> wrote: Hey Toots You did it and all set -up. Guest guest
Hey Suzie, This is GREAT!! I am so happy for you. Please keep us all posted on the progress and decisions made. Just think, hopefully you'll get some quite time in the evening to rest and relax. That's what I need. I told someone the ohter day that I would like to disappear for just 24 hours and no one call me or bug me. Maybe that sounds selfish, but that's just where I'm at. I am so glad that you decided to check this avenue out. I don't think you will regret it. Life is good to us. Peace and love, Kim Scars are souveniers you never lose. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Is it on the dummies calendar? I’ll be praying. De RE: All Set Up I leave the morning of Sept 5th. My first appointment is with Dr Ghent that afternoon. It's about a 2 hour flight so I'll get there in plenty of time. I come back the same Friday afternoon, I'm scheduled for the endoscopy & colonoscopy at 8:15 a m so I'll be flying home that evening. Guest guest
SuZie, They are not hard tests.... just a little invasive. You have probably been told this many times, but I wasn't supossed to eat OR DRINK ANYTHING, including water, from midnight on, and I screwed up and drank some water and he told me so. He did get enough of looking inside me so no harm done. But you are taking a 2 hr. flight and that would be a shame if you didn't know this may be a requirement. They are just a phone call away........... Guest guest
Thanks Del. They sent me a schedule of all appointments & what I have to do before each test. The first meeting when I get there is just that - a meeting. It seems like most of the appointments are meetings - surgeons, social workers etc the "transplant team" Don't worry, I'm ready for them(except the combo colonoscopy & endoscopy - that one scares me) SuZieDel Compton <go_deliman@...> wrote: SuZie, They are not hard tests.... just a little invasive.
