Yesterday was a mess - windy, cold & rain so I stayed inside but today's lovely so out I go. As I was having my coffee, I looked out the kitchen to plan my afternoon. Imagine my surprise to see a LARGE SKUNK digging in my garden!!! I thought they were nocturnal but there he was, digging up lunch. I decided to work in the front garden even though SpYke wanted to go out & greet the new arrival. I had pulled up a bunch of weeds & checked the back - I couldn't see the skunk so I thought he'd left. Out I go to the back yard to dump the weeds on the compost heap & see what damage the skunk had done. I was ten feet from the garden when the skunk got up from his nap & started stamping his pretty little feet at me. I set a new record getting back to the front of the house. He's

SuZie, you need fox urine to scare the skunk away.They are afraid of predators. It's called Shake Away here in the states.

If you think I'm going to go out there, find a fox & follow him around with a sponge, forget it!!! The skunk can stay. I'm hoping the roto-tiller will scare him away. If it doesn't, he can stay & eat the grubs that eat my gerden. Darn Critters!...Gosh suzie, you worked so hard on your lil garden..and its something you love to do, dont give up sister, pepe will move on & you can plant again...its very good therapy working in the yard..since I started working I havent been out in mine & I miss it..but I'll get back out there one of these days...Keep yer chin up & give spyke a hug for me..possums and skunks are losing thier wood lands and end up in our back yards, be careful possums and skunks carry rabies...Hugs, patty...no possum sightings lately..gloria my nieghbor has her sons boxer... so the possums split..yea!!

Hey if ya need possums we always have plenty here. And the squirrels. from what I understand from people that had skunks as pets,once they have had enough to eat they will hyberbate until they are hungry again.So they hybernate anytime.

From what I know & my brother had a pet skunk - they eat until they're full then sleep until they get hungry unless they are pregnant or new mamas, then they eat more & sleep less. They don't have to eat much to make them sleepy either.A friend of mine had one for a pet and so did my father,but he had it before I was born.
