What's on my SCOBY?

Hi folks,

So I've mad a half dozen or so batches of Kombucha, enough that I have

a basic idea of what I'm doing.

Well, I was letting one stay in the cupboard extra long to make a baby

SCOBY for a friend. It's been there maybe 20 days (it's also cold here,

so it takes longer than normal).

So I pulled it out. The baby scoby looks pretty, slimy, white and

thick. However there's this one dry brown spot on it. Almost like it

was burned or something because it didn't get enough moisture.

Never seen that before. I would assume it's ok, but anyone have any

opinion there?

I can send pictures if it would help.
