,

I would be interested in a scoby and some starter if you have plenty.  I am in

Pekin Il so not sure how much shipping will be.  Let me know and I will provide

my full address.

Thanks,

Lyons.

Hi Janita - I live near Austin (just up IH35 and bit) and come into Austin

at least once a week. I am not quite ready for a scoby yet - have not

obtained my equipment and set-up yet - but would like to get with you at a

future date to pick one up.

With regard to getting my equipment since I haven't started yet, any advice

you have is welcome. For example is a one gallon jug big enough for brewing

for myself and my husband? Is it true you need to avoid all metal for

things like strainers? I am still a little confused about the secondary

fermentation - head space or no head space in the bottles. What is your

advice? We will probably want to sweeten with juice as we are still trying

to adapt to the taste. Any suggestions on good brands of tea that I can buy

locally that work really well? Sorry to bug you with questions. If you

don't have time to answer - I will not be offended and totally understand.

Thanks for your time and willingness to offer scobies to newbies.

Hi! I live in Austin Texas and am a brewer. I would be glad to give

scobies to anyone local. Just give me some advance notice so I can

coordinate with my brewing schedule.

Has anyone seen GTS's new flavors?

Here is a link to a post about them

I tried the botanic # 3 with lavender and elderberry. A bit sweet for my

tastes, but I was curious because I have tried using lavender as a flavor

myself.

Happy brewing, janita

My husband purchased one of each of the new flavors last weekend. We

weren't especially impressed with any of the newer flavors, but they

weren't bad. At first I thought that my taste buds had acclimated to my

home brew, but today I purchased my favorite GT, Gingerberry, and it was

just as good as ever. Also, not sure why, but the newer flavors hardly

had any fizz. Why do I always feel cheated when my KT isn't bubbly?? :~)

Just my 2 cents,

TEXAS

BTW, I'm just north of you by about three hours on 35 in Burleson, TX.
