Guest guest
here is a post that i made in may 2007 when i got the 'xflowsion' workouts: :*carolyn. ------------------ today's workout was 'xflowsion: live in hollywood' which is around 80-85 mins long and is a yoga fusion workout. the yoga is fused with a few slow kickboxing drills, a bit of running on the spot, some jumping around, alot of freestyle dancing, and is done barefoot on a yoga mat. besides the long workout, there are 2 premixes provided for shorter ones. the teacher is eric paskel and i ended the workout thinking that he is a pretty cool guy. he is quite encouraging and says alot of yogic things... nothing too 'woo woo' but still he likes to go on about love and not comparing yourself to other people and so on. during corpse pose at the end, he whips out an acoustic guitar and plays and sings a song about love... this got to be a bit much but i was glad that he didnt give yet another inspirational speech, since he provides alot of that during the workout. so, he talks alot but his words are useful and suit the workout. he manages to cue the salutations effectively at the same time. although with 60 people in the class, positioned all over the place, there is no right/left and mirror cueing. so you might not match up with what side eric is using, yet when someone else is shown they are using the same side as you. the yoga is basically sun salutation A and sun salutation B, repeated. lots of up dogs into down dogs. the poses are held for a nice length of time. my quads were burning during a warrior+airplane sequence. i wish that there were more kickboxing drills though. i felt silly during the freestyle dancing at first but got into it after a while. i ended up burning 300 calories which is reasonable for an 85 min yoga workout, i think. i was in my aerobic zone for only 15 mins. the music is a live band which is quite loud, and which i enjoyed. their music reminded me of santana at times. i found the workout to be fun and relaxing and quite free'ing, actually. i cant say that ive ever done anything like it and my description of the workout doesnt come close to describing it, and eric, properly. i can say that i felt really good afterward though.
