Well today was my first PT session for my back.  It was really fun, mostly because it's so egocentric - all the questions and tests were " all about me " .  My PT, Zavertnik, was quite handsome (and married) and after a rather lengthy question and answer session about my back (he typed as I talked) he had me bend backward and from side to side.  No problem.  It's bending forward where the pain kicks in for me.  He had me lie down on a chiropractor's type bench and do 10 updogs, held 2 seconds each.  No problem.  Then he had me lie on my back and he maneuvered my legs in all sorts of stretches at many angles.  No problem.  He pushed against my leg and had me push against him in a few positions.  No problem, and here he noted here how strong I was.  He also noted that I was pretty flexible, and all of this seemed to perplex him because nothing he did to me hurt.  The only thing that hurts is when I bend forward, or bend forward and twist. I did side planks on each side, no problem.

He said, " I'm gonna make you do some exercises every day til I see you next week, where I will manipulate your back so hopefully you'll get better faster " .  Sounds good to me!My exercises (Donna) are:

10 updogs, held 2-5 seconds eachRunner's lunge w/knee on the floor, hold 30 seconds, 3 times  (he only put down to do it on the right side but I'm gonna try and do both sides)Supine spinal twist, right knee going over left side of body, hold 30 seconds 3 times.  Again, I'll also try and do this on the left side as well.

Bridge pose - 3 sets of 15 repsfrom a tabletop, raise right arm w/opposite leg, 3 sets of 15 reps.  I'll also try and do it on the left. The embarassing part about this session was 1) I have a pimple the size of Pittsburgh on my back and 2) I burned my left buttcheek with the ice pack and on my left bum is one giant welt!  Doesn't hurt, but was embarrassing explaining to the PT what it was.  He calmly explained that I need to wrap that with a towel first...
