Brown Rice Syrup Question

I just decanted my first batch of KT made using Brown Rice Syrup. And it was

kind of weird. There is a kind of brownish scum coating the SCOBYs and the

jar. Also, as I decanted the brew, towards the bottom it became more

opaque. Also, there are scum solids floating in the KT.

So, is this normal for brown rice syrup? Any info would be helpful
