Guest guest
Good afternoon all. It has been a few weeks since I have posted and I have been thinking about doing an update and got the "roll call" message and decided that it was my wake up call to post. lol Joe is doing simply wonderful. I never thought that he would bounce back this well after being as close to death as he was. I count my blessings everyday for the progress he is making. He is launching our own "Donor Awareness" campaign here in our small home town. He has agreed to go to high schools and do community "Health Fairs" to spread the word for needed organ donations. How very important they are! He wants people to know that if it weren't for organ donations, he would not be here today. Life after transplant is something! I am trying so hard to get used to the "new" Joe. Seven to eight weeks ago Joe was sleeping 16 to 18 hours a day. He is now awake 16 to 18 hours a day! I love it! But, as any of you know, you get into simple routines and you do your own thing when your partner is ill. "Routines" of keeping yourself sane---"the caregivers," I am sure you guys know what I mean. Well, now that he is up and going so much, it is constant that he is off into 6 directions at one time! No, not manic, but I would like some quiet time for myself. hee heee. It is truly amazing! Everyday is such a wonderful gift. I am so grateful for all of it. I strongly believe in "purpose," I believe that "we" have found our purpose......to get the word out about organ donation. Joe is one of the best advocates I have ever met....having worked in that capacity foir many years. He is a wonderful speaker and I think he can make a difference. I know he can. Other then Joe's advocacy, he is doing simply wonderful. He feels good, he eats good, he looks good. It is hard to believe that it will be 7 weeks on Friday the 17th that he was transplanted. He takes his medications, gets his blood drawn when he is told and changes his meds, only when he is told to. I need to get of this soap box....... My prayers are with all of you....and thank you. Ali Hi People > > Time for roll call again.> > We have many members and friends we have not heard from in a long time many others who we have never met and our oldies but goodies with lots going on.
