this is two part 1) if a dog chews the cord of the vacumme cleaner off can it be fixed or should I just trash it. 2)can I pour concrete into the holes that the Lab dug one foot down trying to get out of the wooden 8' fence? This is Florida..we don't have dirt or clay. its mostly soft sand, what our grass grows in. Part 2. Pour hot sauce where you don't want him to dig. Concrete would be a good filler. Where I come from it makes good shoes too.

Bayla... fix the cord, not hard at all.

Fill the dog hole. Then you could try staking out some chicken wire or hardware cloth along your fence line. If you use plenty of stakes it won't take long for the grass to grow up over it and you can mow right over it. Dogs and cats don't like digging on metal.

The vacuum cord can be repaired, just splice a new end on to it, using great quantities of electrical tape to be sure that the new connections are well insulated (each individually and then both - connect 1 wire to 1 wire and wrap, wrap, wrap; then the other 1 wire to 1 wire, wrap, wrap wrap; then both together wrap, wrap, wrap - you want to make sure those new connections touch NOTHING, ESPESCIALLY EACH OTHER!).

To keep a dog from digging under a fence dig down 3 to 6 inches by 6 inches wide by the length of the fence and bury chicken wire in it. When a dog is digging it will go to the right or the left, but not backward. My Mom raised champion Boston Terriers for years and had to do this in ALL of the runs. She had to go to even greater efforts to keep them from climbing out over the chain link fence.

Is the area that is fenced a big area.You can always do what we do with rabbit pens.We put chicken wire on the ground and they can't dig.
