For the most part my son is a good kid, but when he is outside and playing with

kids and they have to leave he has major meltdowns, telling me to let them play

and then he refuses to come inside, he will run, throw things, he has no

fears(traffic, hitting, biting).

I do not know if this is coming from his autism or his ADHD, either way I have

got to get these behaviors under control. He has been suspended from school

twice for beating up a teacher, my son does not hit like a boy he hits like a

man. My parents are telling me that he is going to have to go to a home, but the

thought of that kills me, his problems seem to be more frequent at school than

at home, most of the time if i wait it out he will come in if i redirect his

thinking.

He is on medicine for behaviors and seizures, i live in jax fl and i am finding

it very hard to find services for him. What i really need is a scared straight

program, but this pathetic city does not have one.

I am curious if there are better medicines or different medicines that could

help him, maybe his body has become ammune to the ones he is on. I know that

when he becomes a teenager next year, things are going to get wild, he is

already starting puberty on top of everything else, i just take things day by

day, and i really feel and am working on getting out of this city. I think a

change in scenery and pace would be good for us both.

Just interested in any suggestions, opinions or thoughts anyone might have.

If you have any thoughts please email them to me, i am open to suggestions.

Is your son in a autism classroom?  Does he have a behavior plan inhis IEP?What medications are your son using? Start calling the Universities in & around JAX and see if they have programs for children with autism?

Before your son plays with kids, explain with a story and pictures that @ a certain time the kids have to go home to their families but will play again on a different day " We will see your friends in 2 days " .

Write out a step by step plan1. when school os over you get your book bag.etc... And use a reward -  Earn 2 Stars and you get __________

Earn 2 X's and you will loose ________ KateOn Sun, May 27, 2012 at 2:29 AM, DAFFERTULSA <daffertulsa1@...> wrote:
