Guest guest
You go thru MHMR. If your child is under the MH category(autism, etc) then you can get day respite. If your child has an MR diagnoses, then you can get respite thru MR and it will include overnights. I don't know how the funding is right now in NJ. In PA they give us 3 days(overnights) right now but I can get more if I request it. Elaine DDD / respite care / NJ People The Division of Developmental Disabilities http://nj.gov/humanservices/ddd/home/ In response to a post that included " respite " care. Isn't that something that is offered through the DDD? I am having the most worse time getting these people to get back to me. I've send letters with No response. My son is actually already enrolled with the DDD and I have never used any services nor have I ever received any money that he may be entitled to. Now that he is getting older, I'd like to see if I can get a little help. Keeping him busy only helps keep him calm. The child is interested in music, learning to speak spanish, he's even enrolled in a program at the gym, with what ins. pays some of. Why can't I get a response from these DDD people? It's been awhile since I contacted or even talked to the lady in charge but she gives such a run around that I am going to try to do everything through writing...maybe I'll try again this week and do a return receipt on the letter to make sure someone got and it signed for it.
