Guest guest
I've heard many stories over the years of chldren with autism hurting their parents (more often the mother) but not being aggressive at school. M y daughter is the opposite. Although she has had many meltdowns in her life, she has never tried to hurt me. At school she has bitten (requiring an ER visit), kicked, head butted, punched, and stabbed with a pencil (another ER visit). I just wondered if anyone else had a child like this? i have always been reasonably strict and consistent, so it's not as if I let her do whatever she wants and so there's no need for her to get upset. She is pretty verbal but does not have full language. When I ask her why she does these things she says, "I don't want to go to school." Her teachers and therapists have worked really hard to decrease these behaviors but they come and go in varying intensities. Anyone?
