Another question for parents of older casted kids... What kind of accomodations

do you request of the school? I know we'll need a 504 plan, and I'm trying to

prepare what I want included. For instance, Grace has a hard time sitting on her

bottom on a hard chair for long periods of time, she does better sitting on her

knees. Same for on the floor. She can't sit " criss cross applesauce " , and can't

really sit on her bottom period unless she's laying back against something. Can

a take a pillow for her to sit on? Do you have a letter from the doctor

indicating activities they can't do? Such as gymnastics in PE, or be allowed to

stop running if she gets too overheated. Next week is Grace's casting day and it

will be the last chance to talk to the doctor to get documentation if I need any

before we meet with her team at the school.

Some other problems she has is that she can't always get her pants up over the

back of her cast on her own. They said she had to be completely independent for

toileting. She can go, wipe, etc on her own, just needs a double check that she

got everything covered back up or her dress not tucked in her pants.

Help??

Thanks,

Jane, mom to Grace 5 1/2
