we havent dealt with chicken pox with Logan in cast----yet. But our plan was chicken pox, poison ivy, poison oak----the cast comes off.

Tackle the rash

Call shriners and tell them to sign us back up for cast application.

I wouldnt take anything off unless you saw the breakout. Your doctor may have a different plan, probably best to consult them.

best of luck!

I just found out our daughter may have been exposed to chicken pox. )-; The idea of dealing with a chicken pox rash under a body cast sounds really miserable. If we do end up facing this dillema, does anybody have any good advice? Have any of you out there been through this before???~

We do not have experience with chicken box and cast, but my son had chicken box

before. It was really hard. He got fever and was very itchy for him.

Thanks

We had poison ivy in cast.  We were fine.  I would wait and see how bad it is prior to panicking.  I remember being covered from head to toe and my brother got 10 dots total.  So it may not be bad.  Also I don't know if you could do some sort of steroid to reduce inching and inflammation.  That is what we were told to do if the poison ivy got bad.

Also did you not get the vaccine? Kids are routinely vaccinated against it.  You may have chosen to skip that one, as I know lots of families do.  You may want to consider getting it if in fact she doesn't get chicken pox and you haven't had it yet.  I know understand not wanting to vaccinate as most of my friends have not, but we decided to do more stuff like that and the flu shot because we were casted and didn't want to disrupt treatment.

This was always a fear of mine too! Thank goodness it never happened. I

dont think its happened on CAST yet.....If it does, temporary cast removal

may be the best bet.

Fingers crossed none of our kiddos go through that!
