Tara--pay attention to your smile! You MUST smile this week, that

way the muscles will trigger a seratonin release--just kidding...but

its a good idea isnt it?

Please explain to this lingo-illiterate, what an RMR is...how to

test for it, and how it went up...

:0)

I'm getting married this Saturday! I've really been concentrating

on lifting heavy and eating A LOT! I've cut down my cardio to almost

nothing, which is hard. I really miss running! I know it has to be

done though. Good news: got my RMR and body fat tested. My RMR has

gone from 1300 to 1680 in 3 months! Bad news: body fat is below 9 or

10%. Looking forward to taking a week off in the Bahamas, even

though it's supposed to rain EVERY DAY!! :-( We'll make the best of

it though. The trainer at my gym thinks that it would be best for

me to do drop sets to build muscle fast. She thinks I should do this

split:

>

> Mon: Chest/back

> Tues: legs/abs

> Wed: shoulders, bis, tris

> Thurs: legs/abs

> Fri: back, bis

> Sat: abs

> Sun: rest

>

> We did a sample drop set workout and it made me SORE! Not really

sure how to set up the program on my own though (sets, # of

exercises) It's so confusing. I just want to build a lot of muscle

fast, but not gain TOO much fat. I like my abs now and I don't want

them to go away! Anyway, things are looking good. Still not gaining

weight though with all the food and no cardio, which puzzles me..

Sorry! RMR is resting metabolic rate, or the number of calories your body would

burn if you just sat in a chair all day breathing. You add to that calories

burned depending on how active you are during the day. THAT number is your BMR,

or the number of calories you would need to eat to maintain your weight. With my

RMR so high, I'm supposed to be eating 2500 calories a day to gain weight. I

raised it b/c I wasn't eating enough and I was overtraining, so my body was

conserving energy and not burning as many calories. It's gone up b/c I've

dropped down my amount of cardio and I've started lifting very heavy and eating

a lot more!

I do it at my gym. You can't eat or drink caffeine or exercise for 4 hours

beforehand. You just breathe into this machine for awhile and it tells you

Congratulations on the metabolism boost! Drop sets are a great idea

for you to build some more muscle. Check out Tom Venuto's article on

Creative Drop-Setting: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/dropsets.htm

That split seems weirdly unbalanced though. Why are you only hitting

chest, triceps, and shoulders once a week and everything else 2-3

times? Was there a typo? Ideally, you'd want opposing muscle groups

like chest/back and biceps/triceps to get the same amount of work.

me. What would you say would be better? Thanks for the link!

Ok, I'm halfway there. Have the jasmine sambac, but not the turkish

rose...but no less of a junkie!

Hi, I'm very new here too. Glad to meet you. Haven't bought a new

pair of shoes in 3 years, btw!

Hi, welcome to the group.  It took me a while to respond, sorry.  I'm one of

those Chicago members Anya mentioned (here I am Anya!).  I havent heard from any

of the other Chicago members in a while. I work at the Whole Foods Market on

Huron.  If you are ever in the neighborhood you should stop in and say hi.  I

work in the Prepared Foods department.

Hi Fiona,

My son is 12 and where he's not depressed, at least not that I can see, I know that he desperately wants more friends. I am currently trying to get him into a basketball team with the Special Olympics. That way he can develop the social skills and make some friends in the process. The depression will definatley lessen the more interactive he is with others. Trick is finding the right setting. What I have done, recently actually, is I posted a message on one of these groups and I indicated what diagnosis my son had, and that I was looking for similar kids in his age range to get together and possibly develop a friendship. So far I have met one family and am meeting another family tomorrow. Hope this helps, and good luck with your son!

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Fiona and I have a 14 year old son who was diagnosed with AS last year. He is in year 9 in mainstream and is only just being put forward for a statement even though I have been asking since before his oficial diagnosis. Recently he has become extremely depressed and is under the mental health team, he has attempted to hurt himself, feeling that no-one likes him and that he isnt 'normal'. I wanted to join the group to ask for advice regarding other peoples experiences of approaching depression, developing social skills etc. Look forward to chatting to everyone! Fionax

Robbie and Welcome!!!!!!

This is a very supportive group I started in 2009 in July and have completed 40

credits. & nbsp;Make a plan for studying, testing and reviewing. & nbsp;Stick to

your plan!!!! Make sure you use practice exams and study guides they will direct

and help you understand where your weaknesses are. & nbsp;Always ask questions

someone will respond. & nbsp;IF f you feel something is overwhelming ask

questions... There a ton of advice here and always more then one way to skin a

cat! & nbsp;Blessings to you both!! & nbsp;Go for it!!! & nbsp;Get excited, keep

your momentum up and keep it going!

Hi, Deborah;

I don't understand a few things in your e-mail message.

1.  Credits...you mentioned " earning 40 credits " .  I don't understand the

relevance of credits in this group.

2.  Why do I need a plan for studying, testing and reviewing, and practice

exams

and study guides?

3.  When it comes to " Momentum " I don't understand how this is a " plan " ... and

I

do wonder if it's an appropriate setting for advising somebody on their

" momentum " .  In the case of Inside-Out Weight Loss, I had the impression that

" momentum " is very relative.

Did you send this message in reference to something other than Inside-Out Weight

Loss by mistake-or am I missing something important about this group?
