Guest guest
Hello We had our son in three casts and when we went for the fourth, the X-ray showed minimal change( maybe 4 degrees). Prior to that the first cast was no change, the second 8 degrees and now the third cast. We are at Shriners Philly and Dr. C said he would not do casting since it is not really being effective and that six months was giving it a good shot. My husband and I were somewhat reluctant but we agreed to do a brace for the next four months and see from there. My concern, obviously, is that Binyamin's curve will worsen and that I made a mistake not to push for another cast ( although I dont know if in the end he would have agreed to it). In the cast itself, they were able to get Binyamin in the 30's down from a 59 degree curve. To say it is frustrating is an understatement as we really wanted to invest in Mehta casting but I guess it cant help everyone. I just someone had posted about the QUAD BRACE . I looked at the pictures and would love to hear more about to ask Dr. C of the O & P guys at Shriners as it looks like a good option that has improved a curve. Sorry about the long email, wanted to give accurate details so people can answer if they are familiar with this situation Thank you Zehava mom to Binyamin , 29 months old, had three casts and waiting for a brace next week
