My son vomited with every cast. And any anesthesia at all for that matter. They always give him an anti nausea combo now while under so that as he wakes the vomiting is limited. We continue with zofran until vomiting subsides. I would ask for anti nausea mess from the anesthesiologist each time while under. Hope that helps! Hey everyone. Aubrey went in for her 11 or 12th cast..i have seriously lost count at this point. Anyways she has always done fine with everything minus the crying when she wakes up from being scared. However this last time which would have been last week on wednesday she did great with the casting however she did not handle the anesthesia well afterwards. We took her home like normal and fed her like we always do, and she continued to vomit everyone we gave her. I called childrens mercy to talk with the on call ortho surgeon and they put her on zofran which helped her feel better. But has anyone elses kiddo had this problem and what did they do to fix it? or help it?Chelsea mommy to Aubrey 3 in her i think 11th cast, hanna 4 and logan almost 1!!

Hey Chelsea--Logan is an EXTREME vomit-er! We actually have them give Zofran IV and IV fluids during the casting procedure. Since we have started that the past 3 cast recoveries have been vomit free! My son vomits every vomits everytime too!! We give him zofran also. It really seems to help. I asked them to give it to him before he wakes up and they do afterward too if he is still sick. I do not see any negative side effects from the zofran. He gets it in his IV, but you can also get dissolving tablets by prescription. They are expensive, but I only get a few tablets at a time so it's not too bad.
