Welcome to CAST! We try not to mention docs names here, so please email

or call me direct and Ill give you an update of docs that I am aware of.

Early Treatment w/ Mehta's specialized EDF casting is growing fast, and

its hard to keep track of everyone jumping on board....My personal email

is isop06@... My ISOP cell is 303 507 2485 MTN time.

Please keep the questions coming!

I'm so sorry to hear that your son has scoliosis.  There is a HUGE difference in outcomes between the 2.  You should consider a 2nd opinion from a mehta trained dr.  We go to Rochester NY.  It is honestly probably one of the closest hospitals that casts.  There may be someone in NYC.  I would chat with .

Good for you for looking into this. I'm with the others: don't settle for anything less than a very experienced doc who follows Mehta's EDF method exactly. I think there's one in Rochester. Good luck!

Hi,

Someone posted a link here a few weeks ago (the title of the post is " Scoliosis

News Story " ) about their daughter's treatment with casting by a doctor in New

York City (where I happen to be from). I would take a look at that. As

stated, we can't mention doctors by name here, but I know of this doctor well

(through my son's doctor and also through other parents whose children are

treated by him, although mostly not for casting, as they are older than your

child).

Anyway, by all accounts of both parents and his colleagues, this doctor is

excellent and has a particular interest and expertise in early onset scoliosis.

Best of luck to you!

I am the one that discovered the scoliosis and was told he was too young to have

it. Well after being persistent it was in fact confirmed at 9 months. Hunter

was at 20 degrees at 9 1/2 months and is scheduled for casting in September. My

concern is that the hospital in Hartford uses risser casting and not edf. I am

being told that there is not much difference in outcome. I like and trust the

doctot but want to hear from others on their thoughts. Does anyone know of a

and who has the name of a good doctor. Thank you.

I know this is a late response, but I am from Southington CT! I went through a

lot of frustration trying to find the best for my daughter Kayleigh, she just

turned a year. Schriners Boston only does Risser, si I ended up with Schriners

Philidelphia with Dr. Cahill. If you want to get into there I can give you the

nurse's contact info because if you wait for the secretary there it wll take

forever... I snooped around and got into direct contact with his nurse and from

my first call to her Kayleigh was casted within a month. Schriners is also free

care after insurance and Dr Cahill is very good!

Please, if you need anything feel free to contact me! It will be good to know

someone close by going through the same thing!
