Hey! I just also posted a message about bruising! Sierra is 3 and was casted for 2 years..since she was 12 mo. We just got her 9th cast off and she is in a night time Providence brace. It seems to fit her very good but I have noticed bruising around her spine area...mostly the lower area. I’m going check with her casting Dr. and Bio-tech who did her brace! Thanks! Kristi

Subject: Has anyone had bruising with a brace after cast removal?

My 2 year old daughter finished her first series of EDF casting and was placed in a Boston brace. She wears this brace 22 hours a day and has been wearing it for about 10 days. I have noticed bruising in her hip areas. It is kind of large for her little body. I have made an appointment with the orthotist to have her brace adjusted but we live 5 hours away and weren't able to make the appointment until this tuesday. I was wondering if anyone else had issues with bruising in a brace. Also, I am beginning to wonder of the bruises were caused by her cast instead of the brace. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

We have had numerous braces and do get bruising on the hips. A few times the

orthotist has adjusted it to lessen the bruising. But the Boston brace works by

anchoring from the hips so from my understanding they can't reduce the pressure

too much or it will reduce the effectiveness. We tend to go back a couple of

times each brace for resdjustments and it is a balance between keeping it

effective and able to be tolerated.
