Guest guest
Chelsea, We haven't had walking problems (yet) but I am a firm believer in really good quality shoes! I guess I just figure that with everything our kids have going on that anything helps! I would think Nike shoes would be good at least for grown ups but maybe try something else & see if it helps? We buy Stride Rite shoes for our son. They are fantastic. I have also heard Pediped (spelling) shoes are great but we haven't tried them. Yes these kind of shoes cost more but I believe its worth it. We find Stride Rites on Zappos.com for around $30-$50. Hope that helps some, Amber > > > > Hey guys sorry im only on here every once in awhile, with three kiddos its > hard to find time to get on. anways i have been watching aubrey walk > around lately and shes in cast #11 or 12 honestly i have lost track shes > had so many. and why yes i do love the cast because it is helping aubreys > back so much im concerned with the weight of it. Guest guest
I think you are describing pronated feet/ankles. My son had/has that and wore braces for awhile. We opted to stop bracing bc his muscles couldn't strengthen in the braces and he had a cast already ect... We buy Keen shoes which are very supportive w high arches. We also have tried Stride Rite. They still are slightly pronated but better... Have they always been that way or are they getting worse? I don't think the weight of a cast would cause that. I think it's muscle tone in general. My sons was noticable as soon as he started standing. He wore braces for about a year. They are little plastic boot like things that have Velcro straps... Can't think of the official medical term for them right now. Anyway if she needs them they are small though I have seen other types that come mid calf to address other issues. As for the stares... Ignore them. I'm sure Aubrey doesn't notice bc she's only 3:) The word is FULL of ignorant people. Love your daughter for who she is and others will too. My son has a genetic condition and a large head with a tiny nose. He also has long thin arms and legs w large hands and feet so trust me we get checked out on a regular basis! Everyone that knows him loves him. For those who don't and feel the need to stare... Fiddlesticks on them. Good luck w the foot issue!TSent from my iPhoneOn May 10, 2012, at 1:12 PM, Chelsea Britain <softballchick105@...> wrote: Hey guys sorry im only on here every once in awhile, with three kiddos its hard to find time to get on. anways i have been watching aubrey walk around lately and shes in cast #11 or 12 honestly i have lost track shes had so many. and why yes i do love the cast because it is helping aubreys back so much im concerned with the weight of it. Guest guest
Hi Chelsea,Liv and I also have feet with no arch due to our connective tissue disorder. I noticed Livs pronated feet at approx. 2 yrs old after she was walking….Try looking on the Ehlers Danlos Foundation website for more info on diagnostic tools for EDS. The site may help you in getting a proper diagnosis. Sorry, if shes already been diagnosed…I cant keep up with posts!HRH From: infantile scoliosis treatment [mailto:infantile scoliosis treatment ] On Behalf Of Chelsea BritainSent: Thursday, May 10, 2012 12:12 PMSubject: problem with ankles turning in Hey guys sorry im only on here every once in awhile, with three kiddos its hard to find time to get on. anways i have been watching aubrey walk around lately and shes in cast #11 or 12 honestly i have lost track shes had so many. and why yes i do love the cast because it is helping aubreys back so much im concerned with the weight of it. Guest guest
hello my professional ( as an Occupational Therapist) and a CAST mom is to have an orthopedist look at her AND go to an ORTHOTIST. They make orthotics, the removable braces/splints for feet ( as was described by the mom before) and see. I have my son checked at 25 months or so but i think a lot of it is cast related and in HIS specific case, an orthotic will not help since his muscle tone is fine, etc. I still keep track and perhaps will re-evaluate if need be... Just my humble suggestion Zehava mom to Binyamin , almost 2 and 1/2 and getting 4th cast Wednesday in Shriner, Philly
