Guest guest
,We found the first night to always be rough, but Kylie seems to adjust pretty quickly to sleeping in the cast. She does not usually want a pillow which surprises me!As for in the booster/car seat, we started experimenting with dish towels / receiving blankets etc to put under her flattening out the "seat" a little better. It takes trial and error but we find this usually helps!BeckyOn 2012-03-23, at 1:54 PM, stenj82 wrote: Hi everyone! Aidan was able to get his first cast on yesterday at Shriners SLC. They are SO wonderful there. Aidan started at 92* out of cast with a terrible rotation. The doctors got him down to 66* in cast with very very minimal rotation. He will stay in this cast until July. He has been tolerating it pretty well, but he complains in his booster seat in the car that it is hurting him. I didn't know if anyone had any tricks to help with that. Also, he had a very difficult time sleeping la st night. He likes to sleep on his belly, but couldn't get comfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions or does this eventually get better? Does he just need time to get used to it?? I am so grateful for this option, but it is still pretty overwhelming!!! Thanks!
Guest guest
, We cast at SLC too! They are awesome aren't they ! Roll up one of those hand towels from the bathroom or a blanket and place it behind their buns...it helps & as he grows a little taller the cast won't be as low & it won't pinch as much. At night I didn't know it at first because my little one was still in his crib but since we moved to a big boy bed he gets his pillow just right under his head & shoulder & can even sleep on his side again. It will get better! Amber mommy to Levi 31* in cast 3 now at 15* > , > > We found the first night to always be rough, but Kylie seems to adjust > pretty quickly to sleeping in the cast. Guest guest
Hi ! My daughter fina is also attending Shriners SLC! She is 19 months and on her 3rd cast. She also began at 92 degrees out of cast and with a very high rotation. Now she is doing much better of her rotation and is 50 degrees in cast. We still have a long way to go but are very happy to have been accepted at Shriners SLC!!! We know she is in excellent hands!! Regarding to car seat, when we travel long distance, we also put a small towel or pillow under her but. You also have to be patient for them to get used to sleep with the cast. It took JOsefina just a couple of days to get used to sleep with cast. She has no problem now, she sleeps all night long and moves around her bed sleeping in different positions.
