Guest guest
Good luck with Tommy Lees next cast. Please keep us posted on your experience in Sacramento J HRH From: infantile scoliosis treatment [mailto:infantile scoliosis treatment ] On Behalf Of crazerachSent: Wednesday, March 14, 2012 10:39 AMinfantile scoliosis treatment Subject: Casting at Sacramento Shriners I am so excited to say that we are getting our Tommy into his 5th cast here in CA! As much as we adore Dr. DA and Mike at SLC and will miss our time with them, driving one hour to Sacramento is so much easier on all of us and quicker too! Tommy has been in a brace since Oct. of last year. He has gone back to the 80 degree mark so we are praying for significant correction with this cast. I hope all of you are well and are still having great results with casting :)Sincerely,, Mommy to Tommy Lee, 4yo in the 80's, getting cast #5, and also mommy to Logan who is

We live in So Cal and also travel to Salt Lake City for casting. What can you tell me about your experience in Sac? Thanks, , mom to Audrey, casting since 2010 SLC > > I am so excited to say that we are getting our Tommy into his 5th cast here in CA! Guest guest
I've never posted and we are fairly new to the group. My son just turned 2 years old last week and has scoliosis. He had his first cast placed October 2011. At that time his degree of curvature was 57 degrees. Currently he is on his 3rd cast and is at 20 degrees! We are truly grateful that in such a short period of time he has come so far. My son was the first case for Shriner's Sacramento. It took 9 months to get all the ducks in a row, purchase of a new casting table for the OR, coordination of all the doctors schedules. etc. In October a Dr. and PA flew in from SLC to assist in the first placement. I was told there were 19 people in the OR that day. The team there is wonderful. They have listened to all my concerns and have addressed them. Our team consists of the orthopedic surgeon, physicians assistant, registered nurse (She is my go to person. She coordinates everything, contacts the doctor for me, makes our appts even if they are last minute.) and the cast techs. They are all wonderful and I am so happy and grateful to have such a wonderful team for my son. I also want to mention the OR staff and most importantly the anesthesiologists. They also have been open to hearing my concerns and have been great with my son. My son also has Prader-Willi Syndrome, which can put him at risk for problems with anesthesia. The second casting did not go as well as we had hoped, in that he did not get a change in correction from the first casting. He was corrected to the mid 30's for the first and again for the second cast. I attribute that to it being the first cast the team had placed on their own. But as I had stated earlier he is currently 20 degrees and they have learned from their previous experience. I hope this helps those of you who are thinking of going to Shriner's Sacramento.Eileen On Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 9:39 AM, crazerach <crazerach29@...> wrote: I am so excited to say that we are getting our Tommy into his 5th cast here in CA! Guest guest
Eileen That's wonderful! I'm so glad your baby is doing good! I just wanted to tell you it seems common that the 2nd cast is the same. That was what happened with my son and he is casted at SLC by Dr. D and the PA. (Probably the same ones that did your first?) His 3rd cast brought him down to 15. We started at 31. Hope casting continues to benifit your little one! All the best amber > I've never posted and we are fairly new to the group.
