Guest guest
I'm looking to give up my Aveda...I've used it for 20 years and keep going back! hoping to kick it for good. I'm in need of a good shampoo and or conditioner for long wavy hair that is more on the dry side. Increasing fats and protein in my diet has not completely helped my hair...I have icky chlorinated water and thyroid issues. I'd rather try something that has worked for you than waste a ton of money experimenting. Thanks! Amy
Guest guest
If you like your wave, try the DevaCurl line, it will put the moisture back in. Naturally curly and wavy hair is generally dry.  There's a curly girl book from Lorraine Massey that I also recommend. She helped develop the DevaCurl line, but also has home remedies in her book.  Ficocello's in the Twin Cities carries the line and also has stylists that specialize in curly and wavy hair... Onesta is another good line - created in MN (and is also carried at Ficocello's). I like the volume shampoo. http://onestahaircare.com/ My neighbor raves about the Wyn/Wen line - it's all over the internet and infomercials. She loves it. ________________________________ From: Amy B <amyboesl@...> Sent: Thursday, August 2, 2012 9:16 PM Subject: hair care products  I'm looking to give up my Aveda...I've used it for 20 years and keep going back! hoping to kick it for good. Guest guest
The last one mentioned (wen) is not all natural. I looked at my mother's and was very disappointed to see some dangerous chemicals listed. As with food, know your ingredients. Alas, I have yet to find a natural shampoo that I like. It is the one and only natural body product I struggle with. Finding good natural deodorant, toothpaste... most of that is easy. But shampoo... ~Cambre On Aug 02, 2012, at 09:51 PM, G <cupcake_lil@...> wrote: If you like your wave, try the DevaCurl line, it will put the moisture back in. Guest guest
Okay, I'll weigh in here even though not sure anyone would look at me and exclaim: " Wow! That woman's got gorgeous hair. " . But it's a little wavy and, importantly, NOT greasy. I just use Tropical Traditions Liquid Soap as shampoo, using the pump dispenser to get a lather. It has benign ingredients (?): saponified organic virgin coconut oil, and either lavender or tea tree essential oil. That's it. My daughter's chiropractor recommended it as shampoo he used - 'course he was mostly bald... Free the Animal blog has a hilarious post on going shampoo and soap free. Important thing was it takes a couple of weeks for oil-producing glands to normalize and stop being greasy. http://freetheanimal.com/2009/12/paleo-i-dont-care-i-like-no-soap-no-shampoo.htm\ l Charlene On Aug 3, 2012, at 7:12 AM, cambre hogoboom <hogoboom@...> wrote: > The last one mentioned (wen) is not all natural. > ~Cambre > > On Aug 02, 2012, at 09:51 PM, G <cupcake_lil@...> wrote: > > If you like your wave, try the DevaCurl line, it will put the moisture back in. Guest guest
I love beautiful curls by allafia. They are work very well on my wavy hair and the conditioner gives great moisture. I too have thyroid problems.
