Guest guest
Since last August I've been on two regimens of meds. The first was Epzicom/Isentress and now I'm on Truvada/Viramune. Both worked very well on suppressing the HIV and Tcells are increasing. However, what has been so difficult is the effect these meds are having on my central nervous system. I've experienced constant severe anxiety and depression which has greatly inhibited my ability to function. I can barely work. My pdoc has run me through a gamut of psych meds over the past months, which have given me the full range of side effects with no theapeutic benefits. I actually feel somewhat better without them. The only thing barely holding me together is Ativan at a pretty good-sized dose. I've asked several doctors here in San Francisco about the link between the meds and severe anxiety and they swear that this has never been reported by anyone on Truvada/Viramune. They only hear about Sustiva. There aren't any other diseases present so it's just down to the virus, meds and me. I just can't believe that I'm the only one out there that is going through this. Definitely feeling really isolated. I'm wondering if anyone in this forum has gone through this and if they've managed to work their way out of it. Thanks for reading. Guest guest
you might want to try Lovaza, it's ostensibly for lowering triglycerides but in reality it helps with ALOT more...it's highly concentrated EPA and DHA Omega-3's, after all. i know people in recovery from tina and coke who use fish oil or Lovaza to help re-balance their brain chemistry. *unless ur on blood thinners or have some other contraindication (ASK UR DOCTOR)*, if i were u i'd try Lovaza for a month or two before bothering with any psych meds...just keep track of your symptoms. also, try to think positively...i mean that as an actual exercise to perform. " act as if ye have faith, and faith shall be granted unto thee (and/or) fake it till u make it " . our brains are malleable, and we have more control of our own thoughts and reactions than we sometimes believe. Cognitive Therapy often works from this semi-mechanical perspective with good results. Meditation too. Jeton > > Since last August I've been on two regimens of meds.
