Guest guest
Hi all,I'm new to this list.I have been on dialysis for the last 9 years (with one failed kidney transplant). I am currently undergoing Daily Home Hemodialysis for 8 hours each night 5 nights a week. Was recently (March 2006) diagnosed with Hepatitis C Genotype 3 and viral load 325,238. I started Pegintron (Pegylated Interferon Alpha 2b - manufactured by Pschering Plough) in the beginning of October. When I checked the viral load at that time (before starting the treatment) it was about 42,200. I wonder how the load fell without any treatment. My WBC count keeps falling (lowest was 1140) and then rises if I take a shot of Neupogen 300 micrograms (G-CSF). My platelets also keep fluctuating between 55,000 and 80,000. After about 4 doses of Peg-Interferon, my viral load was at 97,400. The load actually increased after starting treatment!I have a few questions: 1. What does the viral load increase signify?2. Is it safe to take Neupogen (300 micrograms each) about twice a week? Are there any side effects?3. Does the efficacy of Neupogen fall after taking a few doses? Any other advice/comments would be welcome! Thanks so much.-- ThanksKamal
